Myth “If your views are low, you are likely shadow banned” False: there is no such thing as being “shadow banned,” there are strikes that IG will do for certain reasons, but it won’t cause low views. Low views is usually caused by the content not resonating with the audience

Myth “Do 7-10 stories per day and do resets by letting your stories lag for 24 hours” False: studies prove people lose interest past 6 story slides and there is no such thing as resetting the algorithm when you let a story lag.

Myth “Hashtags are dead” False: they aren’t dead, they just aren’t ranked as high of importance as they used to be, but they still are very useful for training the algorithm on how to classify your content

Myth “Boosting posts or doing Ads hurts your organic growth & will lower your reach after” False: IG has these options to help your account & they make money from it, so they want your account to be successful and for you to continue boosting or doing Ads. If you see lower reach after doing one of these, switch up your content. Consumer behavior is constantly changing, so it’s important to keep up with trends.

Myth “It hurts your post if you back in and edit it after posting it” False: it is perfectly ok to change a typo or reword a sentence, just don’t change the entire caption.

Myth “Don’t follow anyone’ or “follow your target audience” False: it is ok to follow who you want; try to follow those whose audience you want to emulate and try not to follow your target audience. Also, don’t follow more than the amount of followers you have, this can trigger IG bot like behavior.

Myth “You need to engage before after each post” False: there are no set times when you need to engage, just do it naturally throughout the day. Too much engaging will trigger bot like behavior and you may get a strike against you (IG will flag you and you will receive a message about it)
