Your Content is Being Seen by the Wrong Audience: Fix it with 3 Easy Steps

Good Morning Bright Eyed Entrepreneurs! Welcome back to Prosperity on the Platform! This week we are discussing proven methods that will train the algorithm to 10x your views and send your content to the right audience (aka your ideal customers).

First, a little insider information about Instagram’s algorithm…there are actually several algorithms and they are referred to as Machine Learning Models at Meta.

Every action you take on your account sends signals to the machine learning models about who you are (what your account is). You are basically telling it who you are by every post, every search, every comment, etc.

These steps below will not only help brand new accounts but also ANY accounts needing a reset. There are several actions you need to take to signal to the algorithms who your target audience is, but today we will cover three. Others can be found in this guide.

  • Clear Your Search History: Start by clearing your search history. To do this, go to the explore tab, hit “see all” and then “clear all.” Be sure to do this periodically and try to only conduct searches that are related to your niche. Remember, every signal you send to the algorithm teaches it who you are.
  • Accounts You Want to Emulate: Whether you want to reset your account or you’re a brand new account, it’s important to follow large, well established accounts whose audience you want to emulate. For example, if you’re a coach wanting to attract entrepreneurs, then you need to find accounts who are in a similar industry as you and whose followers are entrepreneurs. Once you follow them, you need to turn on post notifications and add them to your favorites. This signals to the algorithm that you want your account classification associated with these accounts. The more correct data you provide to the algorithm, the quicker you will see growth and reach to your target audience. Be sure to do this 5-7x per week for 6 weeks.
  • Follow Suggested Accounts: type your niche in the search bar and then click on Accounts. You will see a list of the top classified accounts for that niche. These are accounts you want to follow, but only do 5 at a time to avoid being flagged by Instagram (Meta sees multiple follows in a row as bot like behavior). Do this 3-5x per week.
